Where Random Acts of Kindness Happen....

August '25 Monthly Reflections on Faith and Compassion:
We often hesitate when we see need around us.
“I don’t have enough to help.”
“Someone else is better equipped.”
“Maybe I’ll do more when life is easier.”
But God never waits for our abundance before asking us to act. In Scripture, He repeatedly uses the small, simple offerings of ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things.
A boy’s five loaves and two fish became a meal for thousands (John 6:1–14).
A widow’s last bit of oil filled many jars (2 Kings 4:1–7).
Two small coins from another widow became an offering that caught Jesus’ attention (Mark 12:41–44).
The truth is, God isn’t measuring the size of our gift — He’s looking at the heart behind it.
In my own life, I’ve seen how small gestures carry far-reaching impact:
-
A hot meal for a hungry neighbor opened the door to friendship.
-
A kind word to someone in a dark place lit a spark of hope.
-
A listening ear reminded a weary soul that they were not forgotten.
We may never see the full outcome of what we give. Our meal might be one of many steps that bring someone back to stability. Our words might echo in their heart years later. The harvest belongs to God, and He is faithful to grow what we plant.
So this month, let’s shift our thinking:
Instead of asking, “Do I have enough?” let’s ask, “What do I have in my hand today?”
It could be time, kindness, a meal, a prayer, or even just a smile. Whatever it is, place it in God’s hands and trust Him to multiply it.
