Drugs, alcohol, homelessness — these aren’t just “issues,” they’re storms that can strip away hope and identity. For the person in the middle of it, every day can feel like survival with no clear way out. Shame whispers, “You’ve gone too far.” Fear says, “No one can help you now.”

But the truth of the Gospel is different. Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He doesn’t wait until we’re sober, clean, or housed. He meets us in the street, in the shelter, in the darkest moments, and offers a hand of grace.

Spiritual help begins when we dare to believe that God’s love is bigger than our mess. It may start with a prayer whispered through tears, or a conversation with someone who listens without judgment. It may be as simple as taking one step — walking into a church, calling a helpline, or accepting a meal.

If this is you today, know this: You are not beyond reach.

The same God who calmed storms can calm yours.

The same God who raised the broken to life can raise you too.
